Easing the audit trail with ISO-certified lubricants
It demonstrates that all FOODLUBE products are formulated, manufactured and designed to be stored and used within an approved hygiene strategy.
Leading retailers and major supermarkets demand the very highest standards from their food and drink suppliers. Now the awarding of the UK's first ISO 21469 certification to a lubricants producer means users of ROCOL's FOODLUBE® products can tick important boxes for their auditors on hygiene and food safety.
ISO 21469 is a globally-recognised certification that provides credible, independent assurance that ROCOL products are formulated, manufactured and supplied hygienically and safely. This is a vital step for manufacturers who need to conform with the audit requirements of major supermarkets, the European Food Safety Inspection Service and the British Retail Consortium. The certification also builds on the existing NSF H1 registration of ROCOL FOODLUBE products (safe for incidental contact with food).
NSF H1 specifies the hygiene requirements for formulation, use and handling of products which may incidentally come into contact with food products during manufacture. But ISO 21469 goes even further, and certification to this standard means that FOODLUBE products are manufactured to stringent recipe and hygiene standards, using food manufacturing practices, dedicated equipment and strict handling procedures. Each product is not only hygiene assured, but has also been independently verified by an NSF inspector and tested in their laboratories.
Brendan Kendrick, the UK Sales Director of ROCOL, describes the ISO 21469 certification as šthe perfect complement' to NSF H1.
"It demonstrates that all FOODLUBE products are formulated, manufactured and designed to be stored and used within an approved hygiene strategy, which has accounted for all chemical, physical and biological hazards. Securing ISO 21469 formalises our already excellent processes, and recognises the application and usage expertise we provide to our customers through services like our ROCOLcare® lubrication management programme."
As part of its ISO 21469 certification, ROCOL provides risk assessments in the use of lubricants, conducts factory audits, helps customers develop and police effective quality assurance procedures, and monitors product composition through ongoing sampling and retesting. Coinciding with the awarding of the company's ISO 21469 certificate, ROCOL has also added another product to its FOODLUBE range.
PUROL™ Grease 2 is a food processing release agent which is NSF-3H registered, meaning it is suitable for direct contact with food, and contains no animal-derived materials, nut oils or genetically modified ingredients. The new product - which is designed to reduce equipment downtime and increase relubrication intervals - has excellent temperature resistance (-10°C to +110°C) and can easily be applied precisely where required, using a grease gun or manual application.
The FOODLUBE® range has long been the lubrication solution of choice in the food industry. Now ROCOL's ISO 21469 certification, and the company's continuing development of new food-safe products such as PUROL™ Grease 2, means manufacturers can be confident that their audits will run just as smoothly as their equipment.
