The use of food grade lubricants is an important element in assuring customers and legislators that food material and foodstuffs have been prepared in a clean and safe environment. But Castrol's food grade range goes further - delivering performance as well as safety.

Food grade lubricants listed in the NSF White Book - Nonfood Compounds Listing Directory - have been independently reviewed and registered by NSF. Castrol Industrial's food grade range is NSF-H1 food grade approved, which means it is safe for use in the food zone of production facilities, where there is direct contact with food which is returned to the product flow.

Castrol Industrial food grade lubricants were developed specifically to meet the NSF specifications. They are free from natural products derived from animals (making them suitable for use where vegetarian food is prepared) and free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs). They are also suitable for use where šnut-free' food is prepared and, depending on their grade, are approved for use in Kosher and Halal food production.

However, Castrol Industrial food grade lubricants do more than simply meet the minimum requirements set by the Food Safety regulations. They also offer the performance you would expect from premium lubricants. Some food and beverage production equipment have to operate in extreme environments - with large amounts of water present, for example. Some have to perform arduous applications - such as running at high speeds for extended periods. In both cases, a high performance premium lubricant can make a real difference. In addition to lubricating it can actually help to optimise equipment performance, prevent damage to equipment, extend intervals between oil changes (in a gearbox, for example) and prolong equipment life.

However, to benefit from all a lubricant's qualities you first have to choose the right lubricant. With in-depth experience of the food and beverage industry and associated equipment, ERIKS has the expertise to appraise your site, and advise on the most suitable products for your equipment and applications, to meet the necessary approvals and provide the optimum performance.

As a distributor of Castrol Industrial food grade lubricants, ERIKS has the whole range for all types of equipment - from hydraulics to gearboxes and bearings to compressors, and for high temperature and low temperature operating conditions - available from stock for quick delivery. You can reduce your inventory and yet still be sure you can get the oil you need, when you need it. The lubricants are available from ERIKS in larger quantities for complete lubricant changes, as well as in smaller quantities for repairs, maintenance and top-ups.

So when you're choosing a food-safe lubricant for your food and beverage production, choose one that offers high-performance too. It's the icing on the cake.
