In this example the customer had shelves of small stock items which were often put in the wrong place or had run out; with the stores looking generally untidy.

ERIKS implemented a Kanban system where 2 bins of each item were put on the existing shelving, when a bin became empty the full bin was moved to the front of the shelf. The old bin was put in a large blue bin. This was then visited by ERIKS stores everyday to fill the empty bins from the bin system and replace them in the correct location.

All bins are bar coded to ensure the correct product is booked out/in.

The bin systems have also been very useful in manufacturing, trackside.
