Underwater Testing VPI Vacuum Pressure Impregnation and Underwater Testing ERIKS have several VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) plants operating in the UK. The largest in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, uses 100% solids epoxy resinous impregnants. All the other plants utilise 100% solids polyester resins. These VPI plants have been designed to process the complete range of electrical plant - from small DC coil, wire wound stators right up to large 11,000 volt stators. Machines can be underwater tested before despatch to you. Underground train traction motors are Vacuum Preassure Impregnated to ensure optimum life time in damp conditions. New electric car motors can also be vacuum preassure impregnated to resist climate conditions too.
