ERIKS Talking Extraction in Advance of Hillhea

Hillhead 2016

In a tough and arduous working environment like the mining and quarrying sector, dust and debris can wreak havoc on equipment and potentially employee’s health. At this year’s Hillhead exhibition, ERIKS [stand: PA24/PB27] will be tackling some of these issues as well as showcasing its range of products and services designed to meet the specific requirements of the sector.
A team of experts from ERIKS will be on hand to offer advice and guidance and to discuss the whole life cycle of equipment from design engineering, to operations and maintenance. In fact this year’s stand will feature a CAD station manned by a team of technical engineers to help demonstrate ERIKS’ in-house design skills and this could be of benefit to you.

Given the robust operational demands for key mechanical processes across the mining and quarrying sector, such as material extraction, ERIKS will be displaying an extensive a range of products, including bearings, belts and lubricants, all of which have been designed to reliably operate in arduous conditions and minimise unnecessary energy consumption.

Another major focus of this year’s stand will be Personal Protective Equipment, and the importance of health and safety across all mining and quarrying applications. Exposure to dust and other natural gases can be easily prevented with the provision of safety materials, and with this in mind, ERIKS will be showcasing a new vending solution for the market, to help make equipment readily available as and when it is needed.

The vending technology is controlled via a cloud-based management and reporting system, which can alert the site manager or other team members when stocks are low — ensuring stock is always available and within easy reach of site operatives. The technology also provides employers with the all-important compliance record and can be accessed and controlled remotely.

Finally, ERIKS will also be showcasing its repair and maintenance capabilities, including its Asset Guard condition monitoring system. By using a sensor system connected to an end-user’s PLC or telemetry system, Asset Guard enables maintenance teams to gain remote access to vital monitoring data via a secure transparent communication channel. This can help contribute to an overall reduction in downtime, as a greater awareness of the operational condition of an application’s key mechanical functions will allow for any minor faults to be identified and dealt with as soon as they arise, instead of being left unchecked.

Ian Richmond, Contracts Director at ERIKS says: "Given the tough and often potentially hazardous working environments, mining and quarrying businesses require robust and reliable solutions — from conveyors to PPE vending machines — that can meet their demanding needs".

"As a service provider that is familiar with the daily pressures businesses in these industries face, we at ERIKS understand that by partnering correctly-specified equipment with a careful monitoring and maintenance programme, we can help our customers mitigate the risk of downtime, take the pressure off the day-to-day running of the site, and keep operations and applications running smoothly."

"Our business is all about finding solutions that meet and then exceed industry requirements, and Hillhead is fantastic platform to demonstrate our commitment to helping our customers develop safe and efficient working environments. We’re really looking forward to meeting with visitors at this year’s Hillhead, and discussing these solutions further. "
