As well as creating sustainable solutions for our customers and employees, ERIKS UK is a proud member of Business in the Community (BITC). We take positive action to create resilience and sustainability in our communities.
Business in the Community stands for responsible business practices & corporate social responsibility (CSR). As a member of their progressive movement, ERIKS UK has been invited to take part in a careers event, which will target approximately 500 pre-GCSE students (ages 12-14) from "Business Class" schools in the Black Country.
Business Class support young people facing social disadvantage. Our long-term partnership with BITC supports this community flagship education programme and promotes a collaborative action.
Our aim in helping support the Black Country ‘Your Future, Your Choice’ event is to influence the development of the future workforce, to enhance our reputation as a responsible employer of choice and to boost our Corporate Social Responsibility. It is our hope to attract new recruits for our Apprenticeship Scheme, to make connections with other local companies and gather local labour market intelligence in order to roll out future high quality education outreach programmes across our UK operations.
The ‘Your Future, Your Choice’ event being held on the 8th April at Wolverhampton Racecourse has been designed specifically for students from secondary schools local to our Headquarter in the Black Country. It will provide the Year 8 and Year 9 students with an insight into the world of work. There will be an opportunity for the pupils to perform industry related tasks, to speak with personnel from employers of choice about real careers and also provide an insight into the variety of job roles available, with the hope of showing them how they can fit into the local economy.
We will be providing an interactive display focused on engaging with the pupils through industry and recruitment quizzes, showing examples of job adverts and conducting mock interviews, discussing career paths and entry routes into our business and using visual aids and flash cards to bring our business to life.
ERIKS UK feels as though there has never been a more important time for young people to get impartial help and advice about their future jobs and careers. We are keen to promote the engineering industry, to discuss the types of qualifications, skills and attributes required for our Apprentice Scheme and encourage the students to engage in activities on the day and to ask questions.
